Two things of the week for the price of one today!
First, check out a writer and artist, Brian Selznik. Brian has written/drawn several books, perhaps the most well-known being The Invention of Hugo Cabret. This book is being made into the movie, Hugo, directed by Martin Scorsese.
Selznik’s latest book, Wonderstruck, combines two art forms to tell two different stories from two different eras – one from drawings and the other from text. The two stories begin separate but intertwine as the reader/viewer gets deeper into the book.
Technically, Selznik writes for children, but adults seem at least as fascinated by his work.
The other artist today is Scott Radke, maker of the coolest and creepiest marionettes on planet earth. An artist from Ohio, Scott started making “dolls” because he loved doing it. The coolness of his creations (along with word of mouth) have made them so popular that most of his marionettes are now sold before he finishes them. Scott also exhibits his creations. Among other movies, Radke’s marionettes can be seen in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.
Enjoy today’s things of the week!
