She is not a thing, but as my first “Thing of the Week” post, I wanted to thank photographer, mixed media artist and friend (and awesome logo designer), Ann Texter.

After several weeks of struggling with a Mapping the Edge logo design, I asked Ann for suggestions on font and layout. The next day she sent me two logo designs – one you see as the blog header, and the other you will see in my podcasts.

In addition to bailing me out, Ann does amazing traditional and non-traditional photographic work. I have had the pleasure of being in several alternative photography exhibitions with her over the years. Ann is equally capable of making fine art from process-driven methods like Polaroid transfers and tintypes, or from the serendipity offered by toy cameras. Ann is relatively new to mixed media, although you would never know it from her images.
